TOTAL FIRE BAN DECLARED
MONDAY 17 FEBRUARY 2020

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services have advised that a TOTAL FIRE BAN has been declared for Monday 17 February 2020 for the Shire of Laverton. This means:

  • You must not light or use any fires in the open air
  • All open fires for the purpose of cooking or camping are not allowed
  • Hot work such as metal work, grinding, welding, soldering, gas cutting or similar is not allowed unless you have an exemption
  • You must not undertake any other activities that may start a fire

You could receive an on-the-spot fine of $1,000 and also you could be fined up to $25,000 or jailed for 12 months or both if you ignore the Total Fire Ban.

Please note that this applies only for Monday 17 February 2020 and will not apply for any other dates unless specifically advised by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.  The Shire of Laverton is currently in their Prohibited Fire Season through until the end of March 2020.
